Playing House in HK

I'm finally done with the move. Having a home again brings me enornous pleasure. Commuting to work is 1 hr, compared to the 7 min walk to the serviced apartment I survived for 4 months. Yet, I feel alive again.

OK, I've been asked about my new apartment, so took a few very quick pix. The views are superb, althought the weather has been crap lately, so you won't get the 'wow' factor. They say it's a typical spring day in HK. I'm sure it gets better than that!

I've decided to settle for Discovery Bay which offers great views, fresh air compared to HK Island, some good outdoor activities, no-car policy and some great mountain biking trails. On the down-side, it's known to be a white-men's land with an expaty atmosphere, pilots'-wives fish bowl parties, women who only breed children (nothing wrong, I just may not relate..). And of course Jonathan giving me the shits about going to the 'dark side', wherever that is! I got to love it here, and this is it.

Anyway, take a look, and come and visit me.

Love, Madzia.

Last Saturday in KL.

18 years in Malaysia and it all came down to one evening. Saturday was not an easy night for me. Friends who have made the biggest impact on my life were there, which was most important. Ex-husband almost made it, but lost the restaurant address and went looking all over Bangsar for 'any farewell party'. As usual, the gang could not do away with a show and some surprise, all choreographed by Ann. Monika, Soraya, Dean, Reena, Raphael, Andrew, Marjan all conspired. I held it together till they sang 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' with revised lyrics.

They pulled out some old photos, which made me realise what a bunch of clowns we are.

Not having your family close to you makes your closest friends your family. This is what Monika, Ann and Soraya are to me. I realised it even more that night. Our life paths may divert, the bond will remain.

From that evening.
